Women will control 426 polling stations for assembly elections

Mumbai : The Central Election Commission has ordered the establishment of ‘women controlled polling stations’. This time, women will control 426 polling stations in the state for the assembly elections.

To increase the participation of women in voting, ‘Women Controlled Polling Center’ will be established.

In Nashik district, maximum number of polling booths total 45 will be controlled by women. After this there will be 33 women controlled polling stations in Jalgaon, 32 in Gondia and 29 in Solapur, 26 in Mumbai suburbs. Whereas Washim, Sindhudurg, Gadchiroli, Hingoli districts will have minimum three women controlled polling stations each.

From the police stationed at women-controlled polling stations to the officers and staff on election duty, everyone will be women. As part of the commitment towards gender equality and more constructive participation of women in the voting process, there will be women controlled women polling stations for the assembly elections. As per the instructions given by the Election Commission, care will be taken that no specific color will be used in all women controlled polling stations and no unnecessary use of the color of any particular political party in the polling stations.

The decision to set up ‘Women Controlled Polling Stations’ will help increase the participation of women in voting. While choosing the women polling station, the security of the center will be kept in mind. Avoiding sensitive centers, centers near Tehsil Office, Police Station and polling centers where election officials will be in constant contact will be selected for this special experiment.

District wise women controlled polling station : Ahmednagar 12, Akola 6, Amravati 8, Aurangabad 13, Beed 8, Bhandara 8, Buldhana 7, Chandrapur 9, Dhule 5, Jalna 6, Kolhapur 10, Latur 6, Mumbai City 12, Nagpur 13, Nanded 9, Nandurbar 4, Osmanabad 4, Palghar 6, Parbhani 8, Pune 21, Raigad 9, Ratnagiri 6, Sangli 8, Satara 17, Thane 18, Wardha 9 and Yavatmal 7.
