Electrical earthing wires worth Rs 15 lakh have been stolen from all 13 newly constructed MHADA buildings in Khoni village of Kalyan taluka. MHADA has registered a case of theft against unknown persons and is currently investigating the case. These buildings were constructed by MHADA under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana for the economically weaker sections of the society. The stolen wiring was discovered when workers noticed that PVC pipelines in the duct area of the buildings were burnt and the earthing wires inside were missing. CCTV footage and interrogation of staff are being used to identify the criminals.
