Voting today for 24 seats in the first phase of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

JAMMU KASHMIR*: Voting for the first phase of Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections has begun. More than 23 lakh eligible voters will exercise their right to vote. The fate of 219 candidates including 90 independent candidates for 24 assembly seats will be sealed in the ballot box today (September 18). Assembly elections are being held for the first time after the removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting for the first phase of assembly elections is taking place. In the first phase, voting for 24 assembly seats in the state has started from 7 am. This includes 16 constituencies in Kashmir and 8 constituencies in Jammu. Voting will be held in total in three phases in Jammu and Kashmir. Voting in the first phase is taking place today. Voting will be held in the second phase on September 25 and in the third phase on October 1. The results of all these phases will be announced on October 8. Thirteen major parties are contesting for the majority in the 90-seat assembly.
