Mumbai: The state government has decided to increase the limit of non-tendered work for unemployed service organizations from three lakh to 10 lakh while appeasing the unemployed youth of the state ahead of the upcoming assembly elections. It is said that this is an attempt to facilitate the workers of the ruling party. * More than two thousand cooperative service organizations are working in the state, and there are more than 35 thousand members in them. In the state, works up to 10 lakhs are done by the Public Works Department for the organizations of unemployed engineers through district level work allocation committees without tender. Whereas works worth more than 10 lakhs are done through e-tendering. As the number of jobs available to unemployed service organizations is less compared to other organizations, there was a demand to increase the limit of non-tendered work given to unemployed service cooperatives and public service centers under the Skill Development Department from 3 lakhs to 10 lakhs. Accordingly, this decision has been taken. To award works up to Rs. 10 lakhs to unemployed service cooperatives without tendering, the works worth more than 10 lakhs should not be broken into pieces and given to service organizations. The Skill Development Department has also warned of strict action against any officer who does this.
