Traffic ban for heavy vehicles on Mumbai to Goa National Highway during Ganeshotsav

Mumbai, Dt. 23: Traffic of vehicles weighing 16 tonnes or more than 16 tonnes is prohibited on Mumbai to Goa National Highway No. 66 as per the provisions of Section 155 of the Motor Vehicles Act 1988 for the purpose of arrival of Ganesha idol, immersion of Ganesh idol, immersion of Gauri Ganapati, return journey etc. There will be a ban on heavy vehicles between Mumbai and Sawantwadi on National Highway No. 66.* The ban will be in place from 12 midnight on 5th September to 11pm on 8th September as a preparatory journey for Ganeshotsav. So 5 and 7 days Ganesha Immersion, Gauri Ganapati Immersion, 11th September 8 pm to 13 September 11 pm for return journey, Anant Chaturdashi 11 days Ganesha Immersion, 17 September 8 am to 8 pm September 18, 2024 for return journey The ban will remain during this period till 10 pm. Apart from the closed period, vehicles with a weight capacity of 16 tonnes or more than 16 tonnes will be allowed to ply on this highway from 11 pm on September 8 to 8 am on September 11 and from 11 pm on September 13 to 8 am on September 17. . Also, regular traffic will be allowed for all vehicles after 8 pm on September 18. This restriction will not apply to vehicles carrying essential commodities like milk, petrol or diesel, cooking gas cylinders, liquid medical oxygen, food grains, vegetables and perishable goods. Also Mumbai-Goa National Highway no. 66 road widening, road repair works and vehicles carrying materials, goods will not be banned. In this regard, the concerned transport department, highway police should take action to issue admit card to the transporters. Considering the Ganesha devotees going to Konkan and the highways, Commissioner of Police, Navi Mumbai and Superintendent of Police of respective districts should take appropriate decision at their level according to the prevailing situation regarding relaxation of traffic restrictions on heavy and heavy vehicles.
