Completion of internal works including electrification of second tunnel at Kashedi on Mumbai-Goa highway has been taken up. So traffic is closed from 20 September. The second tunnel is likely to be opened for traffic only after December 15 as the work on the bridge at Bogdyanajki has started. However, as temporary power supply was implemented in the tunnel, traffic was stopped for electrification work as soon as Ganeshotsav was over. More than 50 workers are working day and night for internal works including electrification of the second tunnel at Kashedi. At present, although the electrification work is in the final stage, the work of constructing a bridge near the tunnel will be taken up. The installation of girders at this place will take a few more days. This will open the second tunnel of Kashedi to traffic only after December.
