The second tunnel in Kashedi Ghat is ready for traffic

A large number of chakarmanis will enter Konkan for Ganeshotsav. Due to the delay in four-lane construction of Mumbai-Goa highway, Ganesha devotees will have to suffer this year too. The construction of two parallel two kilometer long tunnels in Kashedi Ghat has added value to the communication facility in Konkan. Officials of the National Highways Department informed that the tunnel in Kashedi Ghat will be opened for traffic before Ganeshotsav. This will help to make the journey of Ganesha devotees comfortable. As an alternative to Kashedi Ghat under the four-lane construction of the Mumbai-Goa highway, it was decided to construct two parallel tunnels of two kilometers in length at Kashedi Ghat. According to this, the work of this tunnel has been started for some years. Minister of Public Works for this tunnel work. Officials of the National Highways Department along with Ravindra Chavan have inspected from time to time. Meanwhile, during last year’s Ganeshotsav, the Kashedi tunnel was opened for one-way traffic for Mumbaikar chakarmanyas coming from Mumbai. However, traffic through this tunnel was stopped after Ganesh immersion. Then the rest of the work was taken up. Traffic was resumed after this work. Meanwhile, it came to light that the tunnel had developed a leak during this year’s monsoon. But, now the information is available that the two-way work of the tunnel has been completed. The journey of Ganesha devotees will be made easier as the two-way tunnel will start traffic before Ganeshotsav
