The protest of contract workers of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has been suspended.

The decision was taken by the government to privatize around 30 tourist resorts of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation in various parts of the state. In opposition to this privatisation, the contract workers in Maharashtra were preparing to protest by wearing black ribbons on the occasion of World Tourism Day on Friday 27th September. However, Ashok Khamkar, General Secretary of Tourism Development Employees Union, met Suryavanshi, Managing Director of Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Head Office, Mumbai on September 25 and discussed the demands of contract employees. In this discussion, Khamkar informed that the managing director of the corporation held a separate meeting regarding all the demands of the contractual employees and assured to take a positive stand and resolve all the demands. www.konkantoday.com
