The local crime branch's special squad has busted the “cyber crime” spree


On 03/11/2023 a government officer in Ratnagiri district through an unknown message on his WhatsApp account, “I am Senior I.P.S. A police officer is speaking” and after a while another message came saying “Send me ₹ 30,000 and I will give you back immediately in 2 hours”.
This government official got suspicious about the above message and on the same day many government officials also received similar WhatsApp messages, so he immediately reported the matter to the cyber police station.
In cyber police station, the case against the said unknown Isma, case registration number 07/2023 B.D.V. A case was registered under Sections 419, 420, 170(b), 511 along with 66(d) of the Information Technology Act and it was being investigated.
Superintendent of Police Ratnagiri Mr. Dhananjay Kulkarni and Additional Superintendent of Police Smt. Under the guidance of Jayashree Gaikwad, Police Inspector Shri. Janardhan Parbakar St.G.S. Under the leadership of Ratnagiri, this ISAM was continuously pursued by a special team of the local crime branch through technical analysis and undercover correspondents.
The said accused is located in Taluka Pasiyana, District Patiala, State Punjab through first technical analysis and accordingly the team was dispatched to Punjab State on 06/11/2023. But the police team first faced difficulties as the mobile used in the crime was found to be bordering two states and on further investigation it was found that the mobile belonged to a woman from Patiala, State Punjab on the said woman's mobile number dated 27/10/2023 to 03/ During 11/2023, the investigation team noticed that calls on WhatsApp were stopped and it was also found that the accused was using the WhatsApp number of the said woman while sitting elsewhere.
The woman used to watch a “lucky draw” video on Facebook regularly and the ad in that lucky draw video said that if you want an iPhone and iPad as a gift, you should mention your mobile number in the comment section below. Similarly, the woman mentioned her mobile number in the comment section below the video.
Using the same number, the accused called the woman and asked that you have got an iPhone gift and share an OTP received on your mobile to get it.
As soon as the woman shared the OTP, the accused accessed the woman's WhatsApp account and further used the WhatsApp account to make fraudulent calls to many people and police officials.
A technical analysis was again conducted by this team and it was found that the accused was a senior I.P.S stationed in the state of Rajasthan. He was impersonating a police officer and making fraudulent calls by putting his photo on his WhatsApp DP.
As the accused in this crime has changed his name and address, during this investigation, the said team is working to trace the accused in extreme cold (7° degree temperature) at Dig, Bharatpur, Rajasthan from 28/12/2023 to 08/01/2024. They stayed for 12 days while watching and finally on 06/01/2024 at 19.20 hours the accused in this crime Abid Jakar, age 26, Res. Session, Taluka Pahari, District Deeg, State Rajasthan was detained and arrested from Taluka Mathura State Uttar Pradesh through this team.
The mobile handset used by accused Abid Jakar to commit this crime has been seized and further investigation of this crime is going on through Cyber ​​Police Station.
