. Samples of a young woman have been sent to the forensic lab in connection with the rape of a young woman at Champak Maidan near Ratnagiri city. As it is a sensitive incident, the laboratory has been requested to get the medical report of the girl as soon as possible. District Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Kulkarni said in a press conference that after receiving this report, the police can get the right direction for the investigation. Calls and messages on the girl’s mobile will also be checked. The incident is being thoroughly investigated by the police. Investigation of the crime has been handed over to a female police officer. Kulkarni said that more information about this will be revealed soon. Regarding the recent incidents across the state, Kulkarni said that Ratnagiri city is safe. There is no reason to fear anyone. Damini squad of police as well as other police officers conduct night patrolling. Citizens need to show patience and give police time for investigation. Out of 57 CCTV cameras in the city, 31 cameras are operational. The rest are closed due to various excavations.
