Ratnagiri: Dr. The anniversary of the Marine Biological Research Center currently located at ‘Zhadgaon, Ratnagiri under Balasaheb Sawant Kokan Krishi Vidyapith, Dapoli is celebrated on 11th November every year through the research centre. This year the anniversary of the research center was celebrated with enthusiasm as ‘Nilam Mahotsav’.
This program Dr. B.S. Honorable Vice Chancellor of Konkan Agricultural University, Dapoli Hon. Dr. Sanjay Bhave was present. At the same time Dr. P.E. Shingare, Associate Vice Chancellor, College of Fisheries, Shirgaon; Head of Marine Biological Research Center Dr. Suresh Naik; Principal of Fisheries Engineering Diploma School, Shirgaon Dr. Ashish Mohite and Marine Biological Research Center Dr. Asif Pagarkar was present. Former Research Officer of Research Center Dr. Shekhar Kowle and Dr. Vijay Nimbalkar was present. The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp in the presence of the above dignitaries and Dr. Balasaheb Sawant’s image was worshiped. After that Maharashtra Geet and Dr. B.S. Konkan Agricultural University song was played.
Senior Scientific Officer and Head of Marine Biological Research Center Dr. While introducing the programme, Suresh Naik presented the history of the research centre, current status and research overview of the research centre. In order to benefit the new generation of the ex-employee Shidori, the said ex-grandmother-ex-employee friendship gathering was organized from his idea.
Retired former researcher of Marine Biological Research Center Dr. V.D. Nimbalkar brought up the memories of marine research work. Also former Research Officer of Marine Biological Research Center and retired Associate Vice Chancellor of Fisheries College, Shirgaon. Narrating his experiences, Shekhar Kovale expressed the opinion that it is important to keep our friendship strong while working with each other.
Dr. Prakash Shingare, Associate Vice Chancellor, Matsya Mahavidyalaya and former Senior Scientific Officer, Marine Biological Research Centre, Ratnagiri praised the research work done by the Marine Biological Research Center for proving itself at international level. However, it was hoped that this research center would be officially given the status and name of Regional Fisheries Research Center and post graduate degree courses would also be started in this research centre.
President of this program Dr. Sanjay Bhave, Hon. Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Ba.Sa. Konkan Agricultural University, Dapoli appreciated the work done by the Research Center and Department of Fisheries. He also said that it will be done to get funds for this research center under the Chief Minister’s Research Fund. In his guiding speech, he expressed the opinion that how we as researchers and extension education workers are useful to the farmers in terms of Konkan development, it is important to create new agricultural complementary business opportunities to increase their production.
On the occasion of this program, old memories were brought to light by presentation of various activities of Marine Biological Research Center in 65 years. Also, all the grandmothers and ex-employees present and working here were given mementos by the dignitaries. On this occasion, the clerk of the research center Mr. Sachin Pavaskar performed a self-written song to the tune of Jhakdi folk-dance. Everyone appreciated this song. A luncheon was organized for the officers and employees present on this occasion. A cultural program of the staff was organized in the afternoon session. In this, Dr. Shekhar Kovale, Mr. Eknath Panday, Shri. Jai Salvi, Shri. Apurva Sawant, Shri. Varsha Sadavarte, Shri. Dinesh Kubal, Mr. Swapnil Aleem, Mr. Mahesh Killekar (drummer), Shri. Mangesh Nandgaonkar (Ghungroo Player), Shri. Manish Shinde (Prakash Yojana), Dr. Harish Dhamgaye (sound arrangement), as well as Kumari Jivika Killekar participated enthusiastically.
