Anil Surwade (40), resident of Ganeshnagar area of Dombivali West, had gone for a walk in the creek near Kumbharkhanpadya with his two and a half year old daughter Ira at 1.30 pm on Saturday. Ira was playing on the ghat near the bay keeping the teddy and slippers aside. Father Anil was sitting at some distance from him. While playing, Ira fell from the ghat into the creek. As soon as the girl fell, father Anil immediately jumped into the creek. They were unable to save the girl due to the strong current of water and the marshy area at low tide.
