‘Tarikh Pe Tarikh’ to get justice, 83 thousand cases pending in Supreme Court

People go to court to get justice. But in many cases the case hangs for years. It has been shockingly revealed that lakhs of people are getting only ‘Tarikh Pe Tarikh’ to get justice. As many as 82,831 cases are pending in the Supreme Court of the country. This is the highest number of pending cases till date.*Last year only 27,604 pending cases were registered. In 2024, 38,995 new cases were filed in the Supreme Court. Out of them 37,158 cases were settled. The number of pending cases has increased 8 times in the last 10 years. While the pending cases decreased in two years 2015 and 2017. In 2014, a total of 41 lakh cases were pending in the High Court. The number of these cases has now reached 59 lakhs. Pending cases have decreased only once in the last 10 years. In 2024, 2.6 crore cases were pending in trial courts. They have now increased to 4.5 crores.*Double increase in number of judges*Despite the increase in the number of judges in the Supreme Court, the pending cases have not reduced. In 2009, the number of judges in the Supreme Court was 26. It was increased to 31. But the number of pending cases has not decreased. In 2019, the number of judges was increased from 31 to 34 under an Act of Parliament. However, instead of reducing the number of pending cases, it reached from 57 thousand to 60 thousand. The complainant woman requested that she could not attend the frequent hearings of the court without leaving work. Therefore, the woman requested the court to withdraw this case. After the woman’s request, the court allowed the woman to withdraw the case. The case starts in the trial court. The complainant woman had filed a case against the other party. While the case was pending in the trial court, both the complainant and the accused reached the High Court. At this time, the woman said that she cannot come to the court repeatedly.
