Kankavali, 28th:- The grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, erected at the Rajkot fort near Malvan by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on Navy Day, finally collapsed yesterday. This is an unfortunate incident. Although the government is pointing fingers at the Navy for this incident, the local authorities of the Public Works Department are equally responsible for it. Shiv Sena District Chief Sandesh Parkar has demanded that strict action should be taken against Chhatrapati Shiv Rai in Sindhudurg district due to negligence and corrupt attitude of officials.
Sindhudurg is a land that was blessed by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Sindhudurg Fort was built by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Malvan in the district and even after three and a half hundred years, it is still standing in great splendor against the waves of the sea. On the witness of this Sindhudurg fort, it was decided to celebrate Navy Day at Malvan. For this, it was decided to erect a grand statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj at Rajkot fort. While erecting the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which is the pride of not only Maharashtra but the entire country, the public works department has not taken care at all. Actually, this work had to be withdrawn from the tenders of renowned companies across the country. But many works were distributed to local labor societies. The real question is whether this labor society has the experience and expertise to build the foundation of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the wind, salt air, and actuality of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The contractor worked in the name of this labor society. Showed bogus laborers and subjugated Chhatrapati by doing false work in their name. This work is like “many agency contractors in one”. This benami contractor has been supported by the Executive Engineer of the Public Works Department, Sarva Goud, so Parkar has also demanded a thorough investigation into Sarva Goud’s affairs.
