A case under POCSO Act has been registered against Girish Ashok Ghorpade (40, Res.Bhedshi-Dodamarg), who is working as a carrier in Sawantwadi ST Agar, after meeting a minor college student traveling in ST bus and taking her to the lodge. When he was arrested and produced in the court, he was given one day’s police custody. Taking advantage of this, the carrier Girish Ghorpade became close to her and increased her acquaintance. Taking advantage of her ignorance, she was taken to the lodge and tortured.
A few months later, the mental balance of the student deteriorated due to which she was admitted to Bamboli-Goa Hospital on November 2. At that time, when she was interrogated in confidence, she narrated all this. Based on that, the Sawantwadi police registered a case against the carrier Girish Ghorpade under the POCSO Act. Female police sub-inspector Madhuri Mulik immediately took action and detained the suspect. Police officer Mulik informed that he has confessed to this crime. Further investigation is being carried out by female police sub-inspector Madhuri Mulik.
