Somali woman arrested for running kindergartens illegally in Jeddah

JEDDAH — A Somali woman was arrested in Jeddah for running kindergartens illegally in Al-Nahda and Al-Yaqout neighborhoods. The kindergartens were shut down and electricity supply was disconnected to the facilities.

It was revealed in investigations that the Somali national had violated several regulations. The police department is completing the necessary procedures before referring the arrested woman to the Public Prosecution.

A quartet committee, comprising representatives of the Jeddah Education Department, police, the labor office, and the Saudi Electricity Co. inspected the kindergartens that were operating illegally. It was found that the woman received children in the morning and evening shifts at the kindergartens.

Both facilities were found operating without obtaining any regulatory licenses from the concerned authorities. The committee monitored the illegal activity of the woman after receiving several complaints from parents of students. It was found that the woman was accused of committing numerous transgressions such as mistreatment, impersonation, and non-cooperation with authorities in previous visits to the site, in addition to her photographing members of the committee and security patrol teams. This necessitated the formation of a team from the departments of criminal investigation, field investigation, and security forces and the team completed the investigations.
