The Somali security forces were able to regain control of a strategic area in the center of the country from Al-Qaeda-linked group Al-Shabaab.
According to the Somali National News Agency (SONNA), the security forces recaptured Aad which is located south of Mudug Governorate in Galmudug State.
For more than a decade, the Somali forces have been waging battles against members of Al-Shabaab group which has claimed responsibility for several attacks killing hundreds of civilians and security personnel. Within months, the security forces have succeeded in recapturing a number of areas controlled by the group. (QNA)
