SFD supports opening of Anrod Jugnauth Hospital in Mauritius with $50 million loan

MAURITIUS β€” The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), represented by Director General of Loan Operations Abdullah Al-Saif, participated in the opening of the Anrod Jugnauth Hospital (Flacq Teaching Hospital) construction and equipment project.

The opening ceremony was held in the presence of Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth.

The Saudi Fund for Development contributed to the financing of the hospital through a soft development loan of $50 million.

The hospital, with a capacity of 575 medical beds and covering a total area of approximately 95,000 square meters, aims to enhance the efficiency of the health system in Mauritius, provide the highest standards of healthcare and disease prevention, and qualify students from health colleges.

The facility is designed to enhance the services provided and develop capabilities at high-quality levels, facilitating access to treatment for beneficiaries.

This project aligns with the Fund’s efforts to support the health sector, recognizing its critical role in the development and prosperity of future generations in developing countries. It strengthens the pillars of sustainable development across various scopes and forms in developing nations worldwide.

The Saudi Fund for Development has been supporting Mauritius since 1982, financing development projects and programs in various vital sectors. To date, the Fund has financed the implementation of seven projects and programs through soft development loans worth over $228 million, contributing to the enhancement of social and economic growth, knowledge and capacity building, and the provision of basic infrastructure services in Mauritius.
