Navi Mumbai: According to the government decision, the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation had changed the opening time of secondary schools from 10.50 am to 4.25 am. Accordingly, schools were open in the first semester. But now from Monday after Diwali, the timings of secondary schools have been changed again and the timings of secondary schools of the municipality have been changed from 8 am to 2 pm as before. The parents and teachers unions had demanded that the timings of the secondary schools should be the same as before.
According to the state government’s letter dated February 8, 2024, schools of all mediums and all managements were directed to hold classes from pre-primary to class 4 at 9 am or after 9 am. According to the directives of this government, this rule was implemented across the state from the new academic year i.e. June 15, 2024. There are more than 50 municipal schools in Navi Mumbai municipal area and more than 50 thousand students are studying in municipal schools. Initially, teachers’ unions opposed the change in school timings. But the municipal administration was firm on the decision. The municipality has changed the timings of the secondary schools and on the other hand, the teachers’ unions have demanded to change the timings of the primary schools as well. Schools of the primary division are filling at different times due to the number of students. It has been decided to change the timings of secondary schools of Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation. The parents and teachers unions demanded that the timings of the secondary schools should be the same as before. According to this, the secondary schools of the municipality have been started from Monday from 8 am to 2 am.
