Saudi Arabia warns against imposing Israeli sovereignty over the West Bank

Saudi Gazette Report

RIYADH β€” Saudi Arabia strongly warned against the alarming extremist statements by an Israeli official with regard to imposing Israeli sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, and building and expanding settlements. The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that these statements undermine peace efforts, including the two-state solution, encourage wars, produce more extremism, and redouble the threat to the security and stability of the region.

Saudi Arabia stressed that these statements constitute a flagrant violation of international laws and relevant UN resolutions and perpetuate the occupation and expansion of the seizure of lands by force, which constitutes a dangerous precedent. The ministry confirmed that the consequences of continued international failure extend beyond the limits of this crisis to affect the legitimacy and credibility of the rules of the international system and threaten its continuity.

Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan stressed at the Extraordinary Arab-Islamic Summit held in Riyadh on Monday that the Arab and Islamic world is angry about what is happening in Gaza, noting that the international community has failed to stop the war in Gaza. He stated that Israel wants to change the reality on the ground and destroy the two-state solution.

Prince Faisal called for the importance of accelerating recognition of the State of Palestine, and not giving the international community the opportunity to justify its silence on what is happening in Gaza. While noting that the Arab and Islamic position helps calm tensions in the region, he stressed that the continuation of the war in Gaza is a failure for the entire international community.
