Saudi Arabia ranks 14th in Global Al Index, first in the Arab world

RIYADH ā€” Saudi Arabia has been placed 14th globally and first in the Arab world in the Global Artificial Intelligence Index approved by the United Nations, represented by the Advisory Board for Artificial Intelligence.

This ranking, out of 83 countries in the world, confirms that Saudi Arabia is the fastest-growing country in the world in artificial intelligence, advancing 17 ranks in the index.

Saudi Arabia won 7th place globally in this index in the standard of trade in artificial intelligence, which confirms the Kingdom’s commitment to adopting and developing the field of artificial intelligence, investing in its technologies, and building national capabilities in this field.

This index, which was launched in 2019, classifies the artificial intelligence landscape through seven main indicators: government strategy, operating environment, infrastructure, research and development, competencies, and trade, from which 122 criteria branch out.

This achievement confirms the continuous support that the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) receives from the Saudi leadership to play its role in advancing the field of data and Al, providing data-related capabilities and anticipatory capabilities and enhancing them with continuous innovation in the field.

SDAIA led the national direction for data and Al to achieve the aspirations of the goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030.

It worked on developing the national strategy for data and artificial intelligence to unify efforts and launch national initiatives in data and artificial intelligence and make optimal benefits from them.

The Global AI Index is issued by Tortoise Intelligence, a multinational company that has an advisory board that includes artificial intelligence experts from around the world.
