Sangameshwar : Commuters in the Tural-Shinde Amberi area on the Mumbai-Goa highway have been suffering due to lack of pick-up sheds for the past two years. Tural stop is always crowded, yet no shelter is provided there. So passengers have to stand in the sun on the road. Passengers are suffering from heat and rain.
Since the work of four-lane highway has started, the issue of passenger road shelter has been bothering us all the time. The issue of health of many passengers has also arisen. Citizens of Shinde-Amberi have erected a temporary shed at their own expense; But on one side still no arrangements have been made by the contractors. The road was dug up while the four-lane work of the Mumbai-Goa highway was going on
Shelter sheds were constructed. The concerned contractors were required to erect a temporary shelter shed at the bus stand; However, there are no sheds on either side of many places, so passengers have to stand in the scorching sun. In the rain, the passengers are very busy. As the passengers stand along the highway waiting for the bus, the speeding vehicles can pose a threat to the lives of the passengers. Citizens are demanding that the highway administration should immediately construct a pick-up shed for the safety of passengers and to protect them from heat, wind and rain.
Many trees have been cut on the highway. So there is no option available to the passengers for shelter. So one has to bear the heat and rain. The administration needs to pay attention to this. The heat of summer is increasing day by day. Santosh Therade, Sangameshwar
