Research paper presented by Center for Research in Konkan Carving and Heritage, Ratnagiri on “Carving in Konkan” at International Conference 2024 in Germany.

In the international conference 2024 organized by the European Association for South Asian Archeology and Art, (European Association for South Asian Archeology and Art has been European forum in its field since its foundation in 1970) in Leipzig, Germany, on the topic “Konkan Artifacts”. And a research paper was presented by the Heritage Research Centre, Ratnagiri on the topic “Geoglyphs in Konkan” which is the first research paper to be presented internationally outside the country. In the 26th International Conference of ‘European Association of South Asian Archeology and Art’ held in Germany on 20th September 2024 by the team, Konkan Carving and Heritage Research Centre, Mr. Ritwij Apte and Divyansh Kumar Sinha presented a research paper on the topic of Konkan Carving. This is a milestone in our work so far, as it is the first time that work on Konkan carvings has been presented internationally. We are happy about it. Besides, since 2015 we have presented research papers on carvings in various reputed national level conferences like Rock Art Society of India, Society of South Asian Archaeology, Indian Society of Prehistory and Quaternary Studies. Due to the tireless efforts of Nisargayatri Sanstha and the initiative of Director Archeology Department, Government of Maharashtra as well as Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Maharashtra, nine carving sites have been included in the proposed list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 2022. Due to this, handicrafts have gained more importance. Thanks to the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India (DST), and the promoter of IIT, IIT Madras, for their special support in presenting research papers at the international level.
