Ratnagiri : Voting for assembly elections is going on in the state on November 20. To increase voter turnout, the Directorate of Planning Education has organized video making and family letter writing activities for school students and newly literates. Planning Education Director Dr. Mahesh Palkar has given instructions to all District Education Officers in this regard.
In the previous Lok Sabha elections, it was observed that the voter turnout in Maharashtra was lower than the national average. Therefore, the Chief Election Commissioner of the state, Rajiv Kumar, has instructed all the officials in the state to try to increase the voting percentage. Against this backdrop, both the activities organized by the Directorate of Scheme Education are unique.
In the examination held on March 2024 in the state, 4 lakh 25 thousand 906 illiterates have now become newly literate. Literacy program has been made literate by providing illustrated information about the voting process to the illiterate. These new literates have been urged to motivate other family members and close relatives to vote by exercising hundred percent voting rights in the voting process. All the students of class V to XII of the state, including new literates, have been informed to write family letters and make videos to appeal to all eligible voters to vote. Instructions have been given to distribute five letters each to the best in both the activities at school, taluka, district level and citations for making videos after the completion of the election code of conduct.
Ullas Navbharat Literacy Program is not only limited to developing basic literacy and numeracy among the illiterate, but the Navbharat Literacy Program also includes the main objectives of developing important life skills, basic education, vocational skills and imparting continuous education to them. Ullas Guide Book No. 2 provides detailed and illustrated information about the voting process. It is necessary for all adult citizens to vote for the strengthening and strengthening of democracy. All mature citizens need to be inculcated that their vote is the lifeblood of democracy.
Video Production for Vote Awareness Letter writing group consists of school students group a) Class 5th to 8th, b) Class 9th to 12th, Navsakshar (Newly Literates who passed the exam dated 17th March, 2024). Activities of writing letters to relatives
Through family letter writing, students will insist on voting by sending letters to their parents at home, and sending letters to other relatives by post, newly literates are also expected to write letters with the help of volunteers. School students and newly literates are expected to convince the importance of voting through video. Instructions have been given to ensure that there is no violation of the code of conduct in this regard.
