Ratnagiri: The Konkan Coastal Marathon to be held on January 7, 2024 is getting a spontaneous response from the people of Ratnagiri. So far more than 700 people have registered for this marathon. In this, runners from other states including Mumbai, Pune, Nashik, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Sangli, Kolhapur have also registered.
In Ratnagiri, the marathon will start from Chhatrapati Shivaji Stadium at Maruti Mandir on January 7. The 21 km marathon will be held in the scenic environment through 7 villages such as Kajarghati, Someshwar, Kolombe, Phansop, Bhatye. This is a half marathon and it is the first time that the competition has been organized at such a large level in Ratnagiri. With the help of Suvarnasurya Foundation, Ratnagiri Cyclist Club and all cooperative organizations, many people are actively contributing to make this marathon a reality.
A practice run is being organized every Sunday in the courtyard of Theba Palace. All kinds of runners participate in it, daily walkers, joggers, registered runners. The competitors said that these practitioners will be of good use to the runners for the competition.
This competition is not only for the Suvarnasurya Foundation or the organizers but for the entire Ratnagiris. Ratnagiri city will benefit from this. This will boost tourism growth. This is why the social organizations, associations, professionals in Ratnagiri have agreed to give all their support for this competition. Suvarnasurya Foundation founder Prasad Devasthali has thanked him for all the necessary help.
The event will be held under the approval of the Athletics Association and will be held for 5 km, 10 km and 21 km. In this, women and men have been grouped according to age group. Winners will be felicitated with attractive prizes and trophies.
In Ratnagiri, various professionals and organizations are being visited by the organizers. Anand Desai, an entrepreneur from Pawas, Anand Bhide of Yojak Udyog Group in Ratnagiri and various hoteliers are also being met. All these entrepreneurs have promised to cooperate for the competition. Ratnagiri Petrol Diesel Distributors has displayed the poster of the competition in the petrol pump. Valuable support of Ratnagiri Walkers Club has been received for this competition. Overall, there is a good environment for runners to prepare in Ratnagiri from this competition.
Executive Director of Ratnasindhu Yojana Kiran alias Bhaiya Sheth Samant has promised to give all possible support for this competition. Also, the cooperation of all Gram Panchayats, Police, District Administration will also be availed.
