Ratnagiri : After the collapse of the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Malvan, the municipality has become more aware about the statues in Ratnagiri city. Accordingly, a structural audit of six statues in the city was conducted. Now, full scanning is being done by radiologists for the strength of all the seven statues. If there is any violation of the statue, immediately J. J. Repairs are being done by the school organization.
Even the statue of Vitthala, which was erected four months ago at a cost of Rs 1 crore at Shirke Udyan, was partially cracked due to a gap in the mould. Its repair work is in progress. In this way every statue is going to be scanned and repaired in due course. A private organization has been appointed for structural audit. This organization has given a report on the base of the statue, the footing, how strong the statue is, whether it needs repairs.
After the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj collapsed in Malvan, the issue of all the statues in the state came into focus. The government ordered that the municipalities and municipalities should take steps for the safety of the statues in the city. Accordingly, Ratnagiri Chief Officer Tushar Babar decided to conduct a structural audit of all the statues in the city as a precaution for the safety of the statues. The statue of Shamrao Page, the pioneer of the Kunbi community in Malnaka, the equestrian statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in Maruti Mandir Circle in the center of the city, Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar’s statue, Vinayak Damodar Savarkar’s statue at Lakshmichowk in the city, the tallest Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj statue in Ratnagiri conceived by minister Uday Samant, the attractive statue of Vitthal in Shirke Udyan at Malnaka, six such statues were structurally audited. A full scan of the statues is now being done by radiologists.
