Ratnagiri: Mechanisms turn a blind eye to the problem of loose cattle

Ratnagiri : The menace of stray cattle is increasing in Ratnagiri city. Wherever you go in the city, there is a main road or bastan of free cattle. It has caused huge traffic jams and many accidents; But due to blindfolded systems to solve this problem, motorists and city dwellers are suffering. A shelter shed (kondwara) erected on the Champak plain has become a shelter for injured cattle brought by the institutions; But the loose cattle for which this shed is still the loose cattle.

From waking up in the morning to sleeping at night, the citizens and motorists of Ratnagiri are facing a different problem. Although the people’s representatives are trying to make the city beautiful and smart, the mentality of the systems seems to be playing havoc with it. A few months ago, in view of the increasing nuisance of stray cattle, Guardian Minister Uday Samant has constructed a shelter shed for stray cattle at Champak Plain with money from district planning. In the first phase, the municipality caught about 73 stray cattle and gave them to some goshalas and some farmers, but the number of stray cattle does not seem to be decreasing, rather it is increasing. According to a survey conducted by an organization here, there are around 250 stray cattle in the city.

Although garbage is collected daily in the city by ghanta trains, some unruly citizens do not follow the timings of those trains and go out of their homes as per their time and throw the garbage in old dustbins or other places. So these free cattle get that feed. As a result, the number of stray cattle in the city continues to increase. The right to auction loose cattle if their owner does not appear within 3 days of capture; But even that is opposed by some organizations; But keeping free cattle is not the job of the municipality. Therefore, the problem of stray cattle in the city is increasing. The district administration or public representatives need to take serious note of this; But the picture is that all the systems are currently in a state of disrepair.
