Ratnagiri: Livestock census will be done online in the district

Rajapur : The 29th livestock census conducted by the government every five years will be conducted soon. Through this animal census, the exact picture of livestock will be clear. In this livestock census, cows, buffaloes, goats, chickens and other livestock will be counted online by going to the houses of the livestock keepers through mobile app.

During the animal census conducted in some states on an experimental basis, it became clear that there are some technical errors in the app used by the Animal Husbandry Department for the online census.

Due to a technical glitch in the app, the cattle census, which was scheduled to begin on September 1, was delayed till October. Being known as an agricultural country, India is adopting modern technology in agriculture sector. Farmers are achieving economic progress by combining animal husbandry and dairy business while farming in traditional and modern ways. A large number of different types of animals are being reared by the farmers for the purpose of providing additional business to agriculture. These animals are counted every five years by the government. Earlier, livestock census was conducted in 2019. Animal Husbandry Department has also appointed trained enumerators for this year’s enumeration.
