Ratnagiri : After a month, fish prices have come within the reach of gourmets. Therefore, customers are crowding in the fish markets of various places in the city. At Mirkarwada port, bangla is being sold at Rs 100 per kg and surmai at Rs 400 to 600 per kg. Trawling, purse seine fishing is benefiting as the deep sea fish has been satisfactory in the last few days.
Before Diwali, the fishing business was affected due to deteriorating weather conditions along the Konkan coast. Sometimes the fishermen had to moor the boats in the harbour; But the picture has changed in the last week. Fishing boats going for deep sea fishing are getting satisfactory catch. Therefore, due to the increase in the market, the prices of fish are also affordable for the common consumer. A month ago, due to low fish report, the rates were increased. On Sunday, small size surmai, available at Rs 900 per kg, was available at Mirkarwada Jetty at Rs 400 per kg and large size at Rs 600 per kg. A month ago, the price of bangle was Rs 200 per kg, it has come down to Rs 100. It is estimated that the general will remain stable till 120. Saranga was available at Rs 600 per kg. The same rate was higher a month ago. However, the price of saundala is the same as a month ago at Rs 300 per kg. The price of shrimp is also 80 to 300 rupees per kg depending on the grade. The fish available in various fish markets in Ratnagiri is brought and sold from Mirkarwada port itself. So the prices in different fish markets depend on the price of fish at the port. On Sunday, these rates were affordable for gourmets. Therefore, there was a crowd of gourmands in the fish market in Rajivada, Mirkarwada along with the fish market in the market.
Gillnet boats await fish
Although deep-sea fishermen get satisfactory fish, those fishing with gillnets 5 to 10 fathoms from the shore do not. Fisherman Abhay Lakade said that 5 out of 100 boats are getting fish. He said, the cost of fishing comes up to 25 thousand rupees. In the last one and a half months, not getting satisfactory fish, it is suffering.
