Ratnagiri: Eight and a half thousand dams will be built in the district through ‘Mission Dams’

Ratnagiri : This year it rained heavily. It rained till the beginning of November. Also, even though there is a possibility that the water shortage will be reduced this year due to the completion of water supply works in the villages, the Zilla Parishad will take up the Mission Bandhare campaign in the district. Accordingly, 8 thousand 500 dams will be constructed in the district.

Keeping in mind the benefits of saving and storing water in the district in summer, a campaign to build crude dams is being implemented by the Zilla Parishad in every village and wadi to block the water. Due to this, lakhs of liters of water are saved and the intensity of water scarcity that occurs in summer is reduced. Despite the above average rainfall, the district faces severe water scarcity every year. Since the land here is purple stone, the rain water goes to the rivers and the sea without getting stuck in the ground. 3118 million in the year 2023 in the district. I. The administration has already started preparing to overcome the water shortage that occurs in summer. The campaign ‘Mission Bandhare’ will be undertaken by Ratnagiri Zilla Parishad to deal with water shortage. Vanrai, Kachch and Vijay dams will be constructed in it. Each gram panchayat has been given a target of constructing 10 dams. These dams will be constructed through Shramdan with the assistance of Gram Sevaks and Agriculture Department officials, villagers and social organizations.

Construction of dams delayed due to prolonged rains
This year, even though the month of November has started in the district, it is still raining. Every year the work of constructing dams is undertaken from Gandhi Jayanti i.e. 2nd October. However, due to delayed rains, the construction of dams has not started yet. The Zilla Parishad Agriculture Department has sought information about how many dams will be constructed from each gram panchayat.
