Ratnagiri: 150 drivers hit by 'thirty first' in the district, fined 83 thousand

Ratnagiri : To prevent any untoward incident during the celebration of 'Thirty First', the police had cordoned off 46 places in the district. District Superintendent of Police Dhananjay Kulkarni informed that no case of drinking and driving was registered during this blockade.

A total of 46 places in the district were blocked from 11 pm on December 31. For this, 35 police officers, 193 police officials and 76 Home Guard personnel were deployed. This blockade was kept till dawn. During this blockade, every vehicle was thoroughly inspected. During this inspection, there was no case of drunken driving anywhere in the district. Also, there was no mention of any kind of accident.

Police checked the vehicles during the blockade. In this investigation, action was taken against 150 vehicle drivers under the Mater Vahan Act. Superintendent of Police Kulkarni informed that a fine of Rs 83,700 was recovered from them.
