Pune News : 'Voice' support for oppressed victims

Pune : While the incidents of sexual assault are on the rise in the city, on the other hand, due to pressure and lack of help, the victims do not come forward. 'Avaaz' has come forward to change their mentality and also to help the victims of sexual assault. The project 'Avaaz' has been started by Pune Police's Bharosa Cell and Saheli HIV AIDS Worker Sangh, a social organization. It is helping many victims to become self-reliant and get a new belief in living.

The lives of women and minor girls are at stake in various incidents such as molestation, unwanted sex, demanding sex, rape, sexual abuse, abuse of physically and mentally weak person, unwanted pregnancy, virginity test. Such events have a long-term impact on their lives. They need many things to recover from it. Along with family support, HIV AIDS activist organization 'Avaaz' will provide legal advice and guidance to the victims, emotional support and psychological counseling, police and legal system coordination with the help of Bharosa Cell. This initiative has been implemented under the guidance of Police Commissioner Ritesh Kumar.

What is the project?

Project 'Avaaz' has been launched to help adult women and transgender persons who have been sexually assaulted at the Help Center. Such persons will be given detailed guidance on how to fight the fight against injustice till the end, how to stand again in life. Under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Ritesh Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police Ramnath Pokle, Deputy Commissioner Amol Zende, this 'Avaaz' project will be implemented with the help of Bharosa Cell.

Saheli Sangh, Pune run 'Awaaz' Project Help Center has been established by Bharosa Cell, a social organization of Saheli HIV AIDS Worker Sangh, to provide legal advice and guidance, emotional and psychological support to victims of sexual violence. Recently with the help of Vilu Poonawala the project 'Avaaz' has been started. It will provide free guidance, counseling and help of lawyers to fight the case.
