Mumbai :Voting for the assembly elections in the state will be held on November 20 and the results will be announced on November 23. Hence, the political leaders have started a frenzy of campaign meetings and rallies.
In the same background, the Election Commission has also started working vigorously and is creating public awareness through Bharari teams, stationary teams, police system and administrative systems to increase the percentage of voting. Interestingly, the State Election Commission had earlier said that a public holiday is being given on the polling day to increase the voting percentage in the assembly elections. Also, such instructions were given to the labor commissioner of the state. Now, November 20 has been declared a public holiday in the state by issuing a circular from the state government. So
A holiday has been declared on November 20, the polling day, in view of the assembly elections. Accordingly, pursuant to Section 25 of the Accounts Act, No. Sarvasu-1024/126 (29), 1889 (26 of 1889) vide Government of India Ministry of Home Affairs Notification No. 31/1/68 JUDL three dated the 8th May, 1968, in exercise of the powers otherwise delegated to the Government of Maharashtra, The State of Maharashtra hereby declares a holiday for all Legislative Assembly constituencies on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 in view of the Maharashtra Assembly General Elections-2024. It has been done on behalf of the government.
All the Departments of the Ministry are requested to bring the said notification to the notice of Government, Semi-Government Offices, Corporations, Boards etc. under their administrative control. Also, public holidays have been announced for central government offices, semi-governmental public undertakings, banks etc., the circular also said. Meanwhile, the Governor of Maharashtra has also ordered that the information and public relations department of the state government should publish the said notification. Mumbai Commissioner has already passed the order
Meanwhile, as per the instructions of Election Commission of India and Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra, various innovative activities are being implemented under the guidance of District Election Officer and Commissioner of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation Bhushan Gagrani to increase the voting percentage in Greater Mumbai area (Mumbai Suburban District and Mumbai City District). Against this backdrop, instructions have been issued to enable all voters in Mumbai Suburban District and Mumbai City District to exercise their right to vote for the Legislative Assembly General Election-2024.
