*Sindhudurgnagari, D-30:-* 198 villages of Sindhudurg have been included in Sindhudurgnagari Paschim Ghat Environmentally Sensitive Area. A notification has been issued by the Ministry of Environment to declare these villages as environmentally sensitive. Sub-Conservator of Forests Navkishore Reddy has appealed to citizens to register objections. Union Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change has issued a draft notification on 31 July 2024. This notification is published on the website https://egazette.gov.in. Through this notification, the area of 2515 villages under 13 districts and 56 talukas of the state has been declared as environmentally sensitive areas. Among them are 198 villages in five talukas namely Sawantwadi, Kudal, Kankavali, Devgad, Vaibhavwadi in the district.
Objections should be registered within 60 days to the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, Central Government, New Delhi on the email id esz-me@nic.in. Reddy explained that although the 60 days for filing objections ends on September 30 since the notification was issued on July 31, objections can be filed even after September 30 due to the late publication.
