*One person was killed and two others were injured in a horrific accident between two two-wheelers at Matwan Phata on the Dapoli-Mandangad highway. The accident took place on Saturday (09:00) around 7:00 pm. Suyog Suresh Sakpal (age 24) and Atharva Ajay Kalekar (17) from Karanjani were going to Pisai on a bike (MH 08 BA 4415) for some work. When their bike arrived at Matwan Phata, two bike riders (MH 06 CN 4374) and (MH 06 CN 4374) from Mahad also met. MH 06 CJ 0620) was arriving. As Suyog was speeding, Suyog’s bike collided with both the bikes. Suyog Sakpal died due to severe brain injury in the accident. Atharva Kalekar and Sunny Sopan Suyog Sakpal Jadhav (24, resident of Mahad) sustained serious injuries. At that time he was brought to the Upazila Hospital in Dapoli.
Suyog was singular. He has three sisters. Two sisters are married. The marriage of the third sister was arranged. The Sakpal family has been devastated by the loss of the breadwinner of the family. Suyog was working at Chaitanya Gas Agency in Dapoli. Atharva Kalekar lives in Mumbai. On Saturday (9th), he had come to the village for a two-day holiday. After Suyog came from work, both Atharva and Suyog left for some work in Pisai. The accident took place near Matwan Phata. After hitting both the bikes, Suyog was hit on the head. That is why he died. Atharva was injured and fractured his leg. As his family members are all in Mumbai, he was shifted to Mumbai for further treatment. Suyog’s body was dissected on Sunday (10) morning and the body was handed over to relatives.
