Saudi Gazette report

NEW YORK β€” Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Arab-Islamic Ministerial Committee on Gaza Prince Faisal bin Farhan chaired an emergency ministerial meeting of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The meeting was held on the sidelines of the high-level week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly session in New York.

The meeting focused on addressing the escalation of Israeli military attacks against the State of Palestine and the Lebanese Republic. The discussions emphasized on intensifying Arab and Islamic efforts within the international community, particularly engaging with the permanent member states of the UN Security Council, to immediately halt Israeli attacks on Palestine and Lebanon, and to protect the region’s security from the spilling over of the war, which undermines peace and security efforts regionally and globally.

The meeting also explored ways to enhance joint Arab and Islamic initiatives to ensure the establishment of an independent Palestinian state, considering the announcement of the International Alliance to Implement the Two-State Solution and relevant international resolutions.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister for International Multilateral Affairs Ambassador Dr. Abdulrahman Al-Rassi and Saudi Arabia’s permanent representative to the United Nations in New York Ambassador Dr. Abdulaziz Al-Wasil.
