Occasional contract for 260 ST buses of Ratnagiri Agara for assembly elections

Ratnagiri : For the Assembly elections, the Election Commission had demanded 8 thousand 987 buses across the state to transport the voting machines to the polling stations and take them back to the counting stations after the polling. Accordingly, 260 buses of ST Corporation will be reserved for the district and made available. Adequate arrangements have been made for the police system and election staff during the election period.

In the backdrop of the Maharashtra Assembly elections, the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (ST) has decided to provide 9 thousand 232 buses to the Election Commission and Police Administration across the state. These buses will be provided on November 19 and 20 on occasional contract. During this period, important work of transportation of election materials and voting machines will be done by this bus.

The Election Commission had demanded 8,987 buses to transport the voting machines to the polling stations and take them back to the counting stations after polling, besides 245 additional buses would also be made available for police administration. According to the administration, the bus demand is for a fixed period. Therefore, this casual agreement will not affect regular passenger traffic. So daily commuters will not face any difficulties. ST currently has a total of 13 thousand 367 buses of its own. Out of which 9 thousand 232 buses will be deployed for election work from various 31 divisions of the state. It will be managed in the entire state including Mumbai. Ratnagiri Agar has around 700 to 800 buses. Out of them 260 buses will be reserved for elections. ST has planned so that passengers will not be inconvenienced during this period.

The ST administration has taken necessary precautions to avoid inconvenience to the regular passengers. ST currently has a total of 13 thousand 367 buses of its own. Out of which 9 thousand 232 buses will be deployed for election work from various 31 divisions of the state, management will be done across the state including Mumbai. Ratnagiri Agar has around 700 to 800 buses. Out of them 260 buses will be reserved for elections.
