MUMBAI: Keeping in mind the insufficient number of nurses in the suburban hospitals along with KEM, Shiv, Nair and Cooper Medical Colleges of the Municipal Corporation, the Corporation recruited 600 nurses on a permanent basis in June. But the administration has not paid these nurses for four months. Therefore, their financial calculations have deteriorated.
Patient care was affected due to shortage of nurses in various municipal hospitals. This effect was felt more strongly during the Corona era. Therefore, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation administration decided to recruit nurses in medical colleges and suburban hospitals. The administration completed all the necessary procedures and recruited 600 nurses in various hospitals in June. As a result, the workload on the previously employed nurses was reduced. But for the last four months, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation administration has not paid the salary to the newly recruited 600 nurses. As these nurses had not received their salary for four months, when they asked the administration, they were given a technical reason that their employee number had not been created. Also, it is said by the nurses that there is no guarantee whether they will be paid for the next two months. The financial condition of the nurses has become dire as they have not been paid for four consecutive months after joining duty. Also, as there is no possibility of getting salary for the next two months, these nurses are wondering how to meet their family and daily expenses.
The nurses have raised the question that the employee number has not been created, it is the fault of the administration and why we are being harassed for it. Municipal Health Service Employees Association has sent a letter to the Commissioner and Administrator of Mumbai Municipal Corporation Bhushan Gagrani to point out the fact that these nurses have not received their salary for the last four months. The problem has been raised through a letter to Commissioner Bhushan Gagrani. They will take a proper decision in this regard immediately. Adv. Prakash Devdas gave. The newly recruited nurses in Sevamumbai Municipal Hospital will be given staff number as soon as possible and their salary issue will be resolved. *-Kishore Gandhi, Deputy Commissioner General Administration*
