Through the Central and State Governments, digitization process is being adopted on a large scale in every sector and important steps are being taken from the point of view of how maximum technology can be used in every sector and difficult tasks will be made easy. The sector has also started taking steps towards radical change and an important part of it is APAR. Convenience will also be provided. Under this, the concept of ‘one country one student identity’ will be mainly implemented.
If we look at Apar in its full form, it is an automated permanent academy account registry. This is a twelve-digit number for every student from pre-primary to higher education in the vast country and it is going to be an identification number for every student. We know that currently the registration of every student is done in the portal of U-DIS i.e. Unified District and Information System for Education Plus. and his Personal Educational Number i.e. PEN Number is recorded in it. Now this PEN number will be replaced by Apar ID.
The benefit for the students is that the original documents for education will be easily available to the students at this place. Let’s say if a student wants to change school, he will not need to submit all the documents in the new school. Because DigiLocker of those students will be available through Apar. Also, if a candidate goes for a job in a company, the company will not have to take extra efforts to verify his educational qualification and it will help them to understand the educational qualification of the respective candidate through DigiLocker.
Schools are required to contact parents for unique identification numbers. U-DICE registration number, date of birth, gender and mobile number, name of parents, name on Aadhaar card and Aadhaar number etc. of the student will be essential for Apar. However, the student’s name on U-DICE and Aadhaar card must be same. In this, if the student is under 18 years of age, written consent of the parents is essential for this process.
