The government has announced to implement the Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana for the beneficiaries of Other Backward Classes in the state of Maharashtra. However, while submitting the proposal from the Gram Panchayat, the condition that the beneficiary should belong to other backward classes of Maharashtra state i.e. he/she should have OBC certificate is becoming a problem. The possibility of real beneficiaries being deprived in this cannot be ruled out. For this, Bharatiya Janata Party's Guhagar taluk president and Ratnagiri district planning committee member Nilesh Surve has personally met the Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Parishad and demanded to relax the condition of OBC certificates for these beneficiaries.
The Government of Maharashtra through the Other Backward Bahujan Welfare Department decided on 28th July 2023 that while making some guidelines regarding beneficiary selection in the Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana for the beneficiaries of the Other Backward and Special Backward categories, it has been highlighted that the beneficiary should be from the other backward categories of the state of Maharashtra. That is, the caste certificate of the concerned beneficiary is required. However, in all talukas of Ratnagiri district, most of the beneficiaries are senior citizens and due to the system of education at that time, the concerned beneficiaries cannot complete the documents required to get the caste certificate. This means that the beneficiaries of this scheme cannot get caste certificate and due to this there is a possibility of depriving the real beneficiaries of this Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana. In this regard, Taluka President Nilesh Surve has informed through a written statement that he should personally meet the Chief Executive Officer of Ratnagiri Zilla Parishad and explain the problem to him and try to relax this rule. The Chief Executive Officer has also given a positive response in this regard.
