Although the local administration has ignored the ongoing fast to death for loan waiver of mango and cashew plantation rates, former MLA Bal Mane, former president of G.P. Uday Bane, former Speaker Parashuram Kadam promised to take the initiative and accept the demands through the ministers. This movement of mango and cashew growers started on the main road in front of the collector office from last Monday. Ramchandra Mohite, a mango orchard farmer from Karbude, was on a hunger strike. Other gardeners continued their hunger strike to support the agitation. It was expected that the officials of the district administration would come to listen to the just demand of the gardeners through the fast. But during the last week, no one came forward to listen to the side of the agitating gardeners.
On Saturday, former Union Minister Anant Geete directly communicated with the protestors through Ambadas Danve, the leader of the opposition in the Legislative Council. Former Chairman Parashuram Kadam, Prakash Salvi, Tukaram Ghwali, Nandkumar Mohite, Mangesh Salvi of Gardeners Association were present on this occasion.
