*Sawantwadi, D-31:-* On Thursday evening, an incident of a mangalsutra around the neck of a female passenger was brought to light by giving her a sleeping pill while she was traveling from Kolhapur to Sawantwadi ST. The said woman hails from Ottawane-Savantwadi and was coming to Sawantwadi from Kolhapur. An unknown passenger sitting next to her gave her an anti-vomiting pill. After that she fainted for some time. The woman was found unconscious after the bus reached Sawantwadi station. Diksha Dashrath Shringare (37) of Ottawane-Savantwadi was traveling in the Kolhapur-Savantwadi bus leaving Kolhapur at 6 pm. A stranger was sitting beside him. After some time, the man gave Shringare two pills, asking her, ‘Are you vomiting?’ Then he fell asleep. When the bus reached Sawantwadi bus stand, all other passengers got down. However, Sringare was found unconscious. He was admitted to Sawantwadi Hospital for immediate treatment. As soon as he regained consciousness, he explained that the mangalsutra around his neck had been stolen. A case has been registered in Sawantwadi police station in this regard. According to the complaint given by the said woman, she was shot by an unknown person in an ST bus. She said she fell asleep after eating. The police explained that she had said that ST had taken a pill from her house as she was vomiting.
Meanwhile, a gang is now operating by spying on women and looting jewelery on long-distance journeys in ST buses. So the police have now decided to increase the patrolling.
