Maharashtra Vidhan Sabha Election 2024 : : IF NO VOTER ID… PROVIDE ANY ONE OF ‘THESE’ 12 PROOFS AND VOTE

Maharashtra Assembly Election 2024: Voting for the assembly elections will be held on 20 November 2024. Meanwhile, the Election Commission of India has clarified that 12 types of ID proofs other than voter photo ID will be accepted for voters whose name is in the voter list.

The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has informed that voting can be done after showing proof of any one of the 12 types of identity cards.

As per the order of the Election Commission of India for the Assembly General Election, the voters who have a Photographic Voter ID Card will present their Photographic Voter ID Card at the polling station for identification purposes. Any one of the 12 proofs other than the voter ID card will be accepted for identification of the voters who will not be able to produce voter ID card with photograph.

12 types of proofs include Aadhaar Card, Employment Identity Card issued under MNREGA, Passbook with photograph issued by Bank or Post Department, Health Bima Smart Card issued by Ministry of Labour, Driving Licence, PAN Card, National Smart Card issued by Registrar General of India and Census Commissioner under Population Register, Passport, Pension Document, Central or State Government, as well as Public Sector Undertakings, Public Limited Companies distributed to their employees Photo Identity Card, Official distributed to Members of Parliament, Legislative Assembly, Legislative Council Identity card, special identity card issued by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India to persons with disabilities are 12 proofs to be considered for voting.

Notice to NRIs

Meanwhile, NRIs will need their original passport to prove their identity. If a voter has changed his address in the electoral roll, but has not yet received a new identity card, the previous identity card will be accepted. But that person’s name must be in the electoral roll with the existing address. Also, at least five days before the date of polling, information slips will be distributed by the election office to all the registered voters with information about the polling station, list part number, polling date, time etc. The Office of the Chief Electoral Officer has appealed to the voters to bring voter information-note and photo ID card along with them while going to the polling station.
