500 units of Central Reserve Police Force have been deployed to ensure that no untoward incident takes place at 990 critical polling stations in the state. Out of 1 lakh 427 polling stations in the state, webcasting process will be implemented at 67,557 polling stations. As a precautionary measure, preventive action has been taken against more than one lakh people. Voters above 85 years of age as well as disabled voters were provided facility of home voting according to their wishes. Accordingly, out of the applications received across the state, 86 thousand 462 applications have been approved and they have been given the facility of home voting. There was a lot of confusion on the day of the Lok Sabha elections in Mumbai. There were huge queues at the polling stations. Voters had to wait for a long time to vote. The Nirwala High Court has ruled that mobile phones cannot be taken into the polling station. The Election Commission fears that this order may have some impact in urban areas. There is a section that thinks that if mobile is not for justice then why go for voting.
Second phase of voting in Jharkhand In the second and final phase of Jharkhand, voting is going on in 38 constituencies on Wednesday. In the first phase, voting was held in 43 constituencies on November 13. Candidates tried to connect with the voters till the end. There is a direct contest between the BJP-led National Democratic Alliance against the ruling ‘India’ alliance in the state. BJP’s Jharkhand in-charge and Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan appealed for support to the National Democratic Alliance through a television message. On the other hand, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren also requested Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and allies to win. The list of works done by the government was presented this time.
*By-elections in Nanded** Nanded :* Voting for Lok Sabha by-elections is going on in Nanded district along with Vidhan Sabha. There are nine assembly constituencies in the district, out of which six constituencies namely Nanded North and South, Bhokar, Naigaon, Mukhed, Biloli will be voting for Lok Sabha by-elections. The party nominated his son Ravindra Chavan on the seat left vacant by the death of Congress MP Vasant Chavan in August. He is facing BJP’s Santukrao Hambarde.
