King appoints Prince Salman bin Sultan emir of Madinah and Prince Faisal bin Salman his special advisor

RIYADH — Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman has appointed Prince Salman bin Sultan as new emir of the Madinah region at the rank of minister. In a series of royal decrees issued on Tuesday, the King appointed Prince Faisal bin Salman, emir of Madinah, as special advisor to Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques at the rank of minister and five new deputy emirs of various regions.

Prince Faisal bin Salman was also appointed chairman of the Board of Directors of the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), and this was on the basis of the recommendation of Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman. Meanwhile, the Crown Prince issued an order appointing Prince Faisal bin Salman as chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Fahd National Library.

As per the royal decrees, Deputy Emir of Makkah Prince Badr bin Sultan is relieved of his position and replaced by Prince Saud bin Mishaal. Prince Saud bin Bandar has been appointed new deputy emir of the Eastern Province, replacing Prince Ahmed bin Fahd bin Salman.

The royal decrees also included the appointment of Prince Khalid bin Saud bin Abdullah as deputy emir of the Tabuk region, Prince Miteb bin Mishaal, deputy emir of Al-Jouf, and Prince Khaled bin Sattam deputy emir of Asir. Prince Mansour bin Muhammad, governor of Hafar Al-Batin, is relieved of his position, and replaced by Prince Abdulrahman bin Abdullah.

The King has also made the following appointments: Dr. Hisham bin Abdulrahman, assistant minister of interior; Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed, deputy minister of interior; Khaled bin Farid, advisor to the Royal Court; Eng. Khalil bin Ibrahim, deputy minister of industry and mineral resources for industrial affairs; Dr. Abdullah Al-Maghlouth, assistant minister of media; Musaed bin Abdulaziz, mayor of Makkah; Eng. Abdullah bin Mahdi, mayor of the Asir region; Dr. Yousef bin Sayyah, deputy chief of General Intelligence for intelligence affairs, and Zuhair Al-Zuman, assistant president of the Human Rights Commission.

The King has directed the competent authorities to approve and implement his orders.
