JEDDAH β The Jeddah Mayoralty has issued strict terms and conditions for buildings on commercial streets in the city. According to the conditions, buildings located on commercial streets must not have windows that violate building regulations, and must not have openings in the compound wall that allow visibility.
It also stipulated that the approved parking spaces in the basement must not be modified, and that a separate staircase must be set up for the mezzanine floor in buildings located on commercial streets. The conditions also include establishing a ramp for people with disabilities and providing parking spaces for them in front of the ramp, in addition to covering the sewage tanks, not having dilapidated and incomplete compound walls, besides ensuring that external stairs and car entrances are within the owned propertyβs boundaries.
The conditions include not placing split air conditioning units on the facades of buildings. Also, the facade must be free of cracks, damage and rust, and satellite dishes must not be installed on balconies or building facades. The conditions set by the Jeddah Mayoralty on buildings include not having awnings or hangars outside the building boundaries.
Balconies should not be covered with materials that do not match the shape and nature of the building or using them to hang laundry or stocking it. There should not have distorted writings or old and dilapidated advertising posters on the building walls. It is also prohibited to place restaurant chimneys on the building facade, and that the height of the chimneys does not exceed two meters on the commercial shops in the buildings.
