Jeddah maritime rescue team saves French skipper stranded near Sudan

JEDDAH — The Jeddah Maritime Rescue Coordination Center (JMRCC) of the Border Guards has conducted a rescue operation for a French skipper whose sailboat became stranded on coral reefs near Sudan’s Marsa Oseif.

In a coordinated effort with Sudanese surveillance authorities, the JMRCC responded swiftly to the distress signal relayed by the French surveillance and rescue center and the relevant Sudanese agency. Following the successful rescue, there are ongoing efforts to tow the sailboat to Marsa Oseif, where it will undergo necessary repairs to fix the malfunction that led to its stranding.

The incident highlights the effective international collaboration in maritime rescue operations.
