Airtel Launches AI Powered Network : Airtel has taken a big step for its customers. India’s first network-based, AI-powered spam detection has been launched to address the issue of spam calls and messages.
This is the first such experiment by a telecom service provider in the country. This tool will alert customers in real-time about all suspicious spam calls and SMS. This solution is free and will be available to all Airtel customers.
A spam-free network will protect our customers
According to Gopal Vittal, Managing Director and CEO of Bharti Airtel, spam has become a threat to consumers. We have spent the last 12 months tackling it comprehensively. Today is a milestone. Because we are launching AI-powered first. A spam-free network that will protect our customers, said Gopal Vittal. Every mobile user is troubled by the problem of spam. Bharti Airtel (βAirtelβ) today introduced India’s first network-based, AI-powered spam detection solution to combat this spam problem in the country.
How exactly does it work?
Bharti Airtel’s spam detection solutions are designed as two-layer protection. It has two filters. One is at the network level and the other is at the IT system level. Every call and SMS goes through this double layer AI shield. According to CEO Vittal, in 2 milliseconds, the solution processes 1.5 billion messages and 2.5 billion calls per day. This is equivalent to processing 1 trillion records using the power of AI. “Our solution has been able to successfully identify 100 million spam calls and 3 million spam SMS that we receive every day,” Vittal said.
The Government of India has fixed 10 digit numbers with 160 prefixes for service and business calls. Customers expect to receive calls from this 160-prefix series given to banks, mutual funds, insurance companies, stock brokers, other financial institutions, corporates, enterprises, SMEs, large and small businesses used for transaction and service calls. Additionally, customers who have not opted for Do-Not-Disturb (DND) and subscribed to receive promotional calls will continue to receive calls from 10-digit numbers with a 140 prefix.
