“India did a favor to the world by buying fuel from Russia”: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri

New Delhi : Union Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has said that India has done a favor to the world by buying fuel from Russia. If India had not bought fuel from Russia, its price would have gone up faster.

Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri said that India has done a favor to the world by doing this. Union Minister Puri has given this information in a post on his social media account. Puri also shared a video in his post, in which he is seen giving an interview.

Russia faced sanctions from many countries due to military action against Ukraine. At that time, India had decided to buy fuel from Russia. According to Union Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, India’s decision to buy fuel from Russia in the wake of the war has helped curb a potential rise in global oil prices. In an interview in Abu Dhabi, Union Minister Puri said that if the Indian government had not bought fuel from Russia, the global price of fuel would have gone up to $200 for everyone.

Union Minister Puri has said that there is no restriction on fuel from Russia. ‘India has done a favor to the whole world by buying Russian fuel, because if we had not done so, the world price would have gone up by $200 per barrel. There was never an embargo on Russian oil, only a price cap. Indian companies have followed suit, said Puri.

The ill-informed should not forget that he discussed imposing sanctions on India. Many European, Asian countries have bought billions of dollars worth of crude oil, diesel, LNG and rare minerals. Hardeep Singh Puri has also said that we will continue to buy energy from whoever gives the best rate to our oil companies. This is the belief of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. We need to ensure the availability and continuity of our seven crore citizens who visit petrol pumps every day. Puri said that this is our biggest priority.

India is the single largest consumer, where oil prices have fallen sharply in 3 years after unprecedented global price hikes in other countries.’ Interestingly, India is the third largest oil consumer in the world, which is dependent on imports for 80 percent of its needs, Puri said in his post.
