‘I am not in the race for Chief Ministership’: Devendra Fadnavis

Mumbai : BJP officials and workers want me to become the Chief Minister of the state. But now becoming Chief Minister is all secondary to me. Therefore, there is no race for the post of Chief Minister (Maharashtra CM) and I am not involved in such a race, asserted Deputy Chief Minister of the state Devendra Fadnavis.

Speaking in an interview to a Marathi daily, Devendra Fadnavis commented. Therefore, there is a possibility that after the assembly elections, whether Devendra Fadnavis will be in Maharashtra or in Delhi, the discussion about this will break out again.

Devendra Fadnavis expressed confidence that BJP will get more seats in this year’s assembly elections than last time. We got 105 seats in the state in 2019. Now we will have more seats than that. It will not come less than that. Devendra Fadnavis said that we will get a good response in Vidarbha too.

Earlier, Devendra Fadnavis had expressed that he is not interested in the post of Chief Minister. I was the chief minister of the state for five years. So far, only two Chief Ministers in Maharashtra have been able to complete their 5-year tenure. One of them is Vasantrao Naik and the other is me. So now I have no dream or desire to become Chief Minister. Now I will work in whatever responsibility is given to me. Devendra Fadnavis had said that I will stand firmly behind whoever the Mahayuti appoints as Chief Minister.

Eknath Shinde expanded party organization, hence gave more seats than Ajit Dada: Devendra Fadnavis

On this occasion, Devendra Fadnavis answered the question why the Shinde group got more seats than Ajit Dada’s NCP in the seat distribution of the grand alliance. Eknath Shinde has been the Chief Minister for almost two and a half years. They built their strength. Ajit Pawar came to the government one year late. He got only one and a half years. Also, Ajit Pawar wanted to fight with a strong leader like Sharad Pawar, so he had to concentrate all his strength. He spent his early years in that. Eknath Shinde had enough time. He also focused on expansion by consolidating his forces. Moreover, he also got the benefit of the face of the chief ministership. That is why they got more seats to fight, said Devendra Fadnavis.

Also, there are no criteria like more seats, strike rate for the post of chief minister in the grand coalition. Devendra Fadnavis also said that Eknath Shinde, Ajit Pawar and the national president of BJP will sit together and take a decision after the results of the assembly elections.
